Citywide Wayfinding System
Santa Barbara is a city on the central California coastline, with the Santa Ynez Mountains as dramatic backdrop. Downtown, Mediterranean-style white stucco buildings with red-tile roofs reflect the city’s Spanish colonial heritage. This unique California city is a popular tourist destination and welcomes over 7-million visitors annually.
To help support this large number of annual visitors; a wayfinding system was needed to provide clear directions for both drivers and walkers to popular destinations. The system also included parking lot identification and pedestrian wayfinding to help visitors navigate the city once on foot. The system was further enhanced using unique colorways for the Waterfront, El Pueblo Viejo Landmark District. The sign forms reference the Spanish architectural ogee's found throughout Santa Barbara with a tile motif located on the backside of each sign.
The project includes:
- Vehicular Wayfinding
- Parking Lot Identification
- Pedestrian Wayfinding
